Ford Files Trademark Application for Metaverse and NFT

US-based auto giant Ford has filed trademark applications for metaverses and NFTs.

The vehicle giant made 19 trademark applications for all its brands separately.

Ford Enters Metaverse

The Michigan-based vehicle giant aims to offer virtual cars, trucks, vans and apparel.

Ford also plans to create online stores with NFTs.

Previously, South Korean vehicle giant Hyundai has filed trademark applications for metaverses and NFTs. Applications covered sports equipment, shoes, eyeglasses and many other items.

Along with Hyundai, giant automobile brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini and Bentley have also published their own NFT collections.

Luxury automaker W Motors also entered the metaverse last month.

Earlier this week, France-based Renault subsidiary Renault Korea also created virtual cars with its metaverse platform, The Sandbox.

Another vehicle brand, Alfa Romeo, has also integrated NFTs into its vehicles to keep maintenance records.

Automakers continue to be rapidly involved in the metaverse and NFT.

The fact that the prices of NFT cars are more expensive than real cars continues to be on the agenda.

According to a research article published by Vanarama, NFT lovers seem willing to pay more for virtual tools than for real ones. An NFT of the Nissan GT-R was recently sold for $2.3 million, 10 times the cost of the actual car.
